What:  TCEQ Public Drinking Water Recognition Program
When:  Thursday, August 9, 2007

Why:  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality recognized the efforts of Reese Technology Center for the accomplishments to the drinking water system.  Reese was recognized with the Outstanding Total Coliform Rule Program Award 2006.  The award was received on Thursday, August 9, 2007 through a letter in the mail.  The recognition signifies that the drinking water is clean and TCEQ tests are not showing any impurities that are above clean water standards.

Reese Technology Center has aggressively worked to provide clean drinking water after the close of the Air Force Base back in September of 1997.  Since then an interlocal agreement was executed allowing Reese to purchase water for tenants and surrounding neighbors from the City of Lubbock.  The campus contains 12.5 miles of water lines which distribute 500,000 gallons of water to more than 700 employees and 4,200 students at Reese Technology Center.

Public water systems in Texas were recognized in six categories ranging from: Innovative or Proactive Public Water System, Outstanding Total Coliform Rule Implementation, Outstanding Public Water System, Source Water Protection Substantial Implementation, Small Public Water System Security Implementation, and the Texas Optimization Annual Recognition.  For more information or the list of criteria you can log on to www.tceq.state.tx.us/goto/pdwawards .
