Reese Honored For Clean Water
By: James Clark
The state recognizes Reese Technology Center for having a quality water supply.
Reese Technology Center wins an honor from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Reese is one of 1,400 public water systems in the state to be recognized in the Coliform category. Coliform is name given to an entire group of bacteria species. So be recognized in this area, the public water supply has to be germ free.
This is important for Reese because back in the old days when it was an air force base Reese did not have the best reputation for water quality. Nowadays the technology center purchases water from the city. Reese spokesman Todd Reno says it’s already up to drinking water quality but Reese processes it even further.
Reno says, “Y’know, we’re taking the right steps and things are good out here. We’re really working hard to show that our drinking water is this clean and recognized by TCEQ. That’s a big step.”
Lubbock was also recognized by TCEQ in this particular category. Plainview is the big winner from West Texas. Plainview is one of 31 communities honored statewide for an outstanding public drinking water system.
